Redemption Prison Ministry

Our History

Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body. Hebrews 13:3

Redemption Prison Ministry, originally known as Cornerstone Bible Institute, began in 1996 in southern Ontario, by a few dedicated people with a vision for serving those who are incarcerated. Our Bible correspondence program was launched and inmates across Canada began to sign up and complete the correspondence courses.

By 2001 our prison ministry continued to grow and expand across Canada.  This required larger facilities and we were blessed with the opportunity to purchase a building in Cambridge. This met our national head-office space requirements and provided space for a Thrift Store.

It soon became evident it would be a blessing for some of our Bible correspondence students, soon to be released from prison, to participate in a Reintegration program.  In 2004, our Reintegration program launched to meet this new ministry opportunity.

As this prison ministry has continued to grow and expand in 2011 a satellite office was set up in Kingston Ontario. This enables us to provide better opportunities to walk alongside those we serve through this prison ministry.

In 2013 we were enabled by the Lord’s blessing to set up a new satellite office in Chilliwack British Columbia. This will help us to work more effectively in the prison system in the Fraser Valley area.

In 2019 this ministry was blessed to be able expand the ministry work into the Atlantic Region. Redemption Prison Ministry’s Board of Directors and staff pray that the Lord would continue to use Redemption Prison Ministry for the temporal and eternal blessing of incarcerated Canadians.

In 2020 Redemption Prison Ministry was again able to expand the ministry work. This time we were able to have staff support in the Prairie Region. This is a great blessing and we are excited about the opportunities this may bring with the blessing of the Lord!
